611 - Semi critical items not adequately cleaned and disinfected Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): At the time of inspection advised by operator that PREempt CS20 solution is diluted with water in the soaking tray. Corrective Action(s): Ensure the PREempt CS20 solution is not diluted with water. As per manufacturer's direction product is to be used with no dilution. Operator discarded solution and refilled. Resoak the client IPL goggles. Violation Score: 15

Routine inspection: Threading: All threads single use. Waxing: All wax sticks and applicators single use. Treatment bed paper liner for body waxing is discarded after use. Linen sheet is changed after each client. Note: small scissors and tweezers (not meant to break skin) disinfected in PREempt CS20 solution (expiry May 4, 2021). Reminder not to dilute this product with water. Operator refilled soaking tray with undiluted PREempt CS20. Hair services: No hair cutting only styling. King Research barbicide available for disinfecting combs. Hair wash station equipped with a backflow prevention device. Facials: Comedone extractor not longer used. Cotton, gauze, and sponges also no longer used. New machine used with hand pieces that only come into contact with intact skin. 70% isopropyl alcohol used to disinfected hand pieces. Freshly laundered linen towels used once. Utility sink provided with liquid soap and freshly laundered linen towels. Treatment bed paper liner single use. Linen sheet is changed after each client. Manicure/Pedicure: Services are not offered at this time. Laser hair removal by IPL: Laser machine equipped with an emergency on/off button and is key operated. Client goggles are completely opaque. See above on the disinfection requirements. No mirrors in the treatment area. Laser warning sign posted on door. Razors used to prepare skin, single use and discarded into sharps container. Other: Washroom hand sink, designated hand sink in front area, and laser hair removal/facial/body waxing room utility sink provided with liquid soap and paper towels/clean linen towels. COVID-19 safety protocols: One customer at a time. Masks mandatory but taken off during certain services (e.g. facials and threading). Hand sanitizer available for use at premise entrance. Temperature is taken but incomplete set of health screening questions asked. Ensure a full health screening is done for each client. Ensure a COVID-19 safety plan is prepared and available for review onsite.
