Introduction

An unscheduled Routine Inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP).

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: 3 staff records reviewed. 2 staff had obtained a current criminal record check however they were not facility specific.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to obtain a facility specific criminal record check for each employee.

Summary of Inspection:
The COVID-19 Pre-screening was conducted at the door.
During today’s inspection, there were 7 children, the manager, 2 staff.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contraventions.
The following was discussed:
Manager name to be posted near the licence
Validation of staff certification for Early Childhood Educators and Early Childhood Educator Assistant.
Labelling of spray bottles for cleaning
Evacuation plan to be conducted annually, and documented in addition to fire drill.
Legislative requirements for care plans in the event there is a child in need of a care plan.
