Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11120 - CCLR s.15(2)(c) - A licensee must ensure that each piece of furniture or equipment for sleeping (c) is appropriate for the size, age and development of the children intended to use it.
Observation: One child in the program was explained to be sleeping on naptime equipment that is not suitable for the age and development of the child. The LO reviewed age appropriate equipment in depth at the time of the inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure equipment for sleeping is appropriate for the size, age and development of the children intended to use it.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: Four children's files were reviewed and three files were missing Doctor's names and contact details. The LO reviewed these items in depth at the time of the inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure children's registration information is completed including Dr's name and contact details.

Comments

On the inspection date of November 15, 2023 there were 4 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Actions required by the licensee include a corrective action plan developed and submitted and actions required the LO include to review and monitor corrective action plan. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. This inspection report was reviewed with the Licensee at the time of the inspection, completed off site and emailed to the facility the same day.

Program capacity and age requirments as per the CCLR
Active Supervision
Health and Hygiene Preventative Practices
