Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Observed open bulk bags of cocoa powder/brown sugar rodent tampered -workers appear to be re-taping the food bags
Corrective Action(s): Any evidence of rodent tampering with foods must be thrown out -discard any food bags tampered with

401 - Adequate handwashing stations not available for employees [s. 21(4)]
Observation: -No handsink available in "Flour Area" -workers are food handling there directly.

-Handsink in "Packaging Area" had no soap in dispenser.

-Observed the garbage receptacles need to be manually opened -this is an added contamination point
Corrective Action(s): -The workstation there needs to be closer to the handsink area on the other end of the area -discussed with operator they will need to clear out equipment not in use and use the preparation table closer to the sinks

-Ensure all handsinks are adequately stocked with paper towels dispensed, pumped soap and clear for use

-Either keep the garbage lids off during business hours or place garbages where they do not have to be manually opened -such as a foot depressor

Observation: Rodent problems have worsened since the last routine inspection:
-mouse droppings observed in the Walk-in cooler back floor areas, around the foods there and tampered foods observed
-rat droppings observed in the upstairs storage area next to boilers there

Reviewed the last pest control report from Terminix: April 25, 2024 -2 mouse captured next to boiler rooms
Corrective Action(s): Sanitation needs much improvement. Workers need to be checking EACH MORNING for rodent activity using a high powered flashlight -any rodent droppings needs to be cleaned and disinfected with bleach. Any tampered foods must be thrown out

305 - Conditions observed that may allow entrance/harbouring/breeding of pests [s. 26(b),(c)]
Observation: -Evidence of rodent tampered bulk food product in the Walk-in cooler and outside hallway.

-Observed both back swing doors that lead to Jiva Organic wedged wide open.
-The door sweep for the swing doors has a gap on the bottom
Corrective Action(s): -ALL open bulk food bags or broken down skids where shrink wrap has been removed needs to be stored in rodent proof containers (lids on tight)
-Jiva Organic is a separate business and cannot be monitored. Those swing doors must be closed tight unless you are actively shipping goods
-Replace the door sweep on the swing doors -should be flush with the ground
