Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed:

· Polices & Procedures
· Care & Supervision
· Hygiene and Communicable Disease Control
· Medication
· Nutrition and Food Services
· Program
· Records and Reporting
As part of the routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #DCAR-6CPXK have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice.

Observed Violations
No violations were found during the inspection.

Comments

Preschool class divides with each group attending the outdoors and gym at separate times.1 group was observed returning from a walk during todays inspection. Staff included children go outside daily rain or shine.
Observed story / circle time , snack , free play.
Children who do not have drinks sent from home are provided with water.
Children's records ( 10 audited found complete and well organized.
Staff files complete - discussed changes in legislation to include medical clearance for staff is no longer required.
Licensee is also required to verify ECE - discussed process.
Reviewed 5210 Resources and the Director of Licensing - Active Play Standard which include a requirement to develop both Active Play and Screen Time policies.
