Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Pots and pans are being stored outside the facility (back entrance in a shared hallway). This is a repeat violation.
Corrective Action(s): All equipment must be stored in a sanitary manner. Hallway is shared with another location and operator does not have a means to protect equipment from potential contamination. Equipment was moved into the facility at the time of inspection.

210 - Food not thawed in an acceptable manner [s. 14(2)]
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A bucket of frozen fish was thawing in standing water at room temperature at the time of inspection. The external portion of fish was probed at 16C. This is a continuing violation.
Corrective Action(s): Frozen foods must be thawed under cold running water or in a refrigeration unit at 4C or less to prevent the growth of pathogens. Fish was discarded at the time of inspection. Continued improper thawing of potentially hazardous foods will result in the issuance of a Violation Ticket ($345 for contravention of Section 14(2) of the Food Premises Regulation B.C Reg 210/99).

Comments

-Follow-up inspection to July 9, 2019.
-Facility is no longer processing foods in the back hallway area. However, operator has started to use the hallway as a storage area once again. Hallway is not part of the facility and is a shared space with other tenants.
-Operator also continue to thaw foods in an unsafe manner. Continued thawing of potentially hazardous foods in an unsafe manner will result in the issuance of a violation ticket.
