HAZARD RATING FOR YOUR FACILITY: Moderate (16-29) Total Score = 18
Critical Hazards: There are no critical hazards.
Non-Critical Hazards: Total Number: 2
119 - Non critical items not adequately cleaned and disinfected
Observation: 1) Barbicide jars were not filled to the top. The longest comb could not fully submerge in the solution.
2) One of the barbicide jars contained a cloudy solution.
Corrective Action(s): 1) Ensure that the barbicide solution is filled all the way to the top of the jar so the longest comb/tool is fully submerged in the solution for adequate disinfection.
2) Replace the barbicide solution. Ensure the solution is replaced and used as recommended by the manufacturer. Cloudy barbicide indicates build up of organic matter. Date to be corrected by: immediately.
Violation Score: 9

122 - Adequate hand washing stations and/or hot and cold water not provided
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): The hand washing sink in the service area was blocked with hair colour bowls and combs. There was no soap or paper towels available at this sink. This is the only designated hand washing sink in the service area.
Corrective Action(s): The operator placed paper towels and a bottle of liquid soap at the sink at the time of inspection. He argued that they do not use this sink and did not want to correct the violation. The washroom sink is used for hand washing. This is not acceptable. The health approval for this facility is based on the use of the hand washing sink available in the service area.
Violation Score: 9
