Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: Upon inspection of the outdoor play area, Licensing observed that the fence is not sturdy, posing a fall hazard. There are also gaps at the bottom of the fence. The Manager explained that the children don't play near the fence.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that the fence is sturdy and in good repair.

Comments

At the inspection dated January 26, 2024 there were 7 children 1 staff present, and a volunteer present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. Licensee/Manager to provide Licensing with a written response with actions taken to bring facility into compliance. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool will be completed and a copy will be provided.
