Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspection for compliance.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection -
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: A fabric sheet/cloth is being use as a diapering station. The licensee stated that she does sanitize after each use and weekly will run it through the washing machine. The concern is that the fabric material can still absord bodily contents and thus, should it be required for another child's usuage there is a risk of cross-contamination.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that diaper changing process demonstrates a healthy and sanitary practice
Date to be Corrected: October 17, 2022

Comments

At today’s inspection there were 7 children and the licensee present. Licensing conducted a walk through of the entire facility.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer by October 17, 2022. The Licensing Officer will review the response.
As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy was provided to the facility along with this report. The Risk Assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation and is used to determine inspection frequency.
The contents of the inspection report were reviewed with the licensee prior to the inspection report being written off-site; therefore, no signature attached. A copy of this report will be emailed to the manager on October 7, 2022 and a hard copy mailed to the facility.
The following was discussed with the licensee;
- DIN (Drug Identification Number) on wipes in first aid kit. Ensure parents have given consent prior to using.
- Hand washing practices to minimize spread of germs.
- In-Home Multi-Age Child Care refers to the entire home being licensed and thus being useable space to operate your program.
- Organizing paperwork to keep shelves functional.
-Ensure shelving is securely mounted to prevent a tipping hazard.
-Ensure children can independently move on or off chairs
A copy of a residents criminal record check and the licensees ECE validation was emailed to the licensee.
Visit the CCFL website at www.fraserhealth.ca/childcare for additional resources, and links to the Legislation (CCALA and CCLR).
Thank you for your assistance today and if you have any questions please contact your Licensing Officer.
