Introduction

An unscheduled follow up inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR), and the Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation: During the inspection licensing observed:
-an electrical plug outlet in two areas of the facility were uncovered. Licensee corrected this at the time of the inspection.
-Blind cords in the quiet and circle room that were secured, however they have loosened over time providing access for children to become entangled. Licensee said they will have the school maintenance fix the issue.

Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health and safety of a child.

Summary of Inspection:
During today’s inspection, licensing was joined by 19 children, and 2 staff and 1 ECE student.
The contravention identified in the inspection was partially corrected. Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the remaining item.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.

The following was discussed:
Discussed the requirement to keep records for the Preschool and Group Child Care separately.
Reviewed the cleaning and sanitization practices.
