Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A copy of the CRC was not available in a staff's file. The Manager printed a copy of this during the inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure staff files are complete.

STAFFING: 12090 - CCLR s.19(1)(f) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (f) evidence that the person has complied with the Province's immunization and tuberculosis control programs.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): A copy of the staff's immunization status was not available. The Manager printed a copy of the immunization status and a copy was kept in the file.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure staff files are complete.

Comments

At this inspection there were 24 children, 5 staff and the Manager present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. These contraventions were corrected during the inspection, therefore no further action is required. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy will be emailed.

The following was discussed with the Manager:
· Contents of the emergency supplies and system in place to replenish expired food
· Children's allergies and care plans
· Alcohol wipes with DIN numbers contain medication and should not be used on children due to risk of an allergic reaction

The contents of this report was reviewed with the Manager and a copy was emailed on Feb. 15, 2023.
