Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR # have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12210 - CCLR s.23(1)(a) - A licensee must ensure that children have at all times immediate access to an employee who (a) holds a valid first aid and CPR certificate, provided on completion of a course that meets the requirements of Schedule C.
Observation: The licensee's first aid expired on January 30, 2019. The licensee advised that they are renewing their first aid this weekend.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure valid first aid while working with children. Please provide a written response advising on renewal.

Summary of Inspection

At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. The licensee advised on a compliance date.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
Promoting Active Play in the program
Active Supervision
Lead in the Water
Different ways to capture record of children's absences
Additional information that can be included in the active play policy
