At the inspection dated Feb. 02, 2024 there were 9 children and 3 staff present.The manager was also on-site and assisted with the inspection. At this inspection, the above noted contravention was identified. Actions required by the licensee includes a written response. The contravention noted in this report was reviewed with the facility manager during the inspection.
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
The following recommendations/discussions were provided:
- Reportable Incident procedures, which is to be reported within 24 hours. Child care staff are asked to call their Licensing Officer to make the report. If the Licensing Officer is unavailable, please call the Duty Line Licensing Officer.
- Active supervision of children and procedures
- Continue to document minor incidents using the incident log bound book, and take note of any illness and unexpected events involving children not requiring medical attention, and that are not reportable incidents as described in Schedule H and staff to continue to initial and write the date after each documentation.
- Continue to constantly review facility policies with staff
- Continue to check the expiry date of items in the emergency supplies kit
- Remove all items with a NPN or DIN # in the first aid kit, as parent’s permission is required before using these items on children. Mild soap and water can be used to clean any minor cuts or scrapes.
- Food/snack menu procedures
- Care plan procedures
