Introduction

A scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11230 - CCLR s.47 - A licensee must ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49° Celsius.
Observation: At the time of inspection the water accessible to children was 54.1 degrees celsius.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that any heated water accessible to children is heated to no more than 49 degrees celsius.

Comments

At this inspection there were five children and the Licensee present. At this inspection the COVID-19 infection control assessment checklist was completed and a copy of the document was given to the Licensee. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. The Licensee is required to take corrective action to bring the facility in to compliance and provide a written response to Licensing by September 14, 2020. As discussed today Licensing will email the Licensee a sample of an allergy care plan.
The following education/recommendations were provided:
-COVID-19 prevention; recommendations provided with regards to the system in place for drying hands following hand washing.
-COVID-19 safety plan; recommendations provided with regards to including the updated health and illness policy and procedure in the safety plan.
-care plans

The following resources were provided:
- Revised COVID-19 resource package for childcare facilities

The inspection findings were reviewed with the Licensee at the time of the inspection. The inspection report and facility risk assessment Tool was written off site and a copy of this report and the risk assessment will be emailed to the facility.
