Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations

STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person. Observation: Licensing observed 4 staff member's with missing criminal record checks Corrective Action(s): The manager said she has applied and the staff will not be left alone with the children Date to be Corrected: STAFFING: 12070 - CCLR s.19(1)(d) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (d) copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of the person's training and skills. Observation: Copies of any diplomas, certificates or other evidence of the person's training and skills were not obtained. At this inspection, the above contraventions were identified. Licensing provided a date for addressing the contraventions and is requesting a written response by February 28th advising on compliance. As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed. The following was discussed: - Staff Files - Children and Staff Immunization Status The information contained in the report was discussed with the Manager and the report and risk assessment were written on-site. Licensing advised that copies of the report and risk assessment would be emailed to the facility.
