Introduction

This was an unscheduled Routine Inspection for the purpose of inspecting the premise for compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP).

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: Emergency Supplies are insufficient to implement the emergency plan
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure there is sufficient food and water to mitigate, respond and recover from any emergency.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: Review of 12 children's files, 1 file did not contain the contact information for medical practitioner.
Corrective Action(s): Please obtain the medical practitioners contact information for each child.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
The COVID-19 Pre-screening was conducted at the door.
During today’s inspection, there were 7 children, and a staff person, and the manager arrived later.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to submit a corrective action plan to address the contraventions.
The following was discussed
Reviewed emergency supplies planning checklist
Discussed storage of items above the fridge as possible hazard if an earthquake occurred.
Licensing identified a space heater that was accessible to children, however it was not plugged in. Licensee stated it was only in use after the children leave when the schools heat goes off, and staff are cleaning.
