Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP).
All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: Insufficient food supply to sustain all children and staff ro at least 72 hours.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure there a sufficient amount of food supply in the emergency supply kit.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: The emergency contacts for 1 child is the child's parents. Licensing explained to the Licensee that the emergency contact should be an individual who is not the parent and who is able to contact the parent when the Licensee cannot.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the emergency contact is an individual that is not the parents.

Comments

At today’s inspection, there were 3 children and the Licensee present. Licensing did a full walk through of the whole home.

At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified and the Licensee is required to submit a compliance plan by the date below.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy was provided to the facility along with this report.
The Risk Assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation and is used to determine inspection frequency.

The following was discussed:
-Snack menu available
-Hand washing practices
-Diapering and toileting routine and hygiene practices
-Daily outdoor schedule and safety checks
-Providing policies to all families upon registration
-Licensing Duty line: #604 587 3936 for emergencies if area Licensing Officer can’t be contacted.
-Regular review of BCCDC website for COVID-19 updates (see link below)
