Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP).
All care categories were inspected for compliance.
A risk screening was conducted prior to inspection.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13050 - CCLR s.56(1)(c) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (c) a record respecting compliance with section 22 (2) (b) and (c) [emergency training and equipment].
Observation: Licensing observed that the fire drill record was not complete for March 2021 and the emergency evacuation record was not completed for the 2020 year. Staff confirmed that the drills had been completed.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure accurate records are maintained in relation to all emergency drills conducted.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19070 - CCLR s.57(2)(a) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (a) name, sex, date of birth, medical insurance plan number and immunization status.
Observation: On review of a random selection of five children's files, Licensing observed that two were missing MSP numbers. All other information was accurate.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that information for children's files is complete

Comments

Summary of Inspection

At today’s inspection the Manager was on site to assist. The group child care (30 months to school age) program was in operation.
Licensing reviewed the facility’s COVID-19 prevention strategies during inspection.

At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.
Actions required by the licensee is to provide a corrective action plan by the date below.
Licensing will review the corrective action plan.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy was provided to the facility along with this report.
The Risk Assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation and is used to determine inspection frequency.

The following was observed/discussed:
- Active Play promotion and increased outdoor play
- Hygiene and sanitization practices
- Licensing Duty line: #604 587 3936 for emergencies if area Licensing Officer can’t be contacted.
- Regular review of BCCDC website for COVID-19 updates (see link below)

The facility has been receiving Licensing Officer’s emails.
