Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted on June 15, 2021 to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Upon inspection, blind cords were accessible to children and toys were stored on window ledges that posed a fall hazard

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11200 - CCLR s.17 - A licensee must ensure that children do not have access to any object or substance that may be hazardous to the health or safety of a child.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon inspection there was Lysol and a disinfecting cleaner accessible to children

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13030 - CCLR s.22(3) - A licensee must display a copy of the fire drill system in a prominent place in the community care facility.
Observation: Upon inspection the fire drill system was not displayed in the facility
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a copy of the fire drill system is displayed in a prominent place in the facility

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: Upon review of the attendance records, 17 departure times were not recorded in the previous month in a half
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure attendance records are complete

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: Upon review of 4 children's files, 1 file did not contain a medial practitioner name and telephone number
Corrective Action(s): Pleasure ensure children's files are complete

Comments

At the inspection dated June 15, 2021 there were 8 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee will provide licensing with a written response.Licensing will review the response. As part of this Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed and a copy was provided.

The following discussions were had with the Licensee:

· Covid-19 prevention strategies were reviewed
· Physical Facility
· Health & Hygiene

The following resources were provided:

· Active Supervision
· Reportable Incident forms
· Lead in water

The information contained in the report was discussed with the Licensee and Licensing stated that the report will be emailed to the facility.
