Introduction

A scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). Health and Hygiene practices / systems were the areas of focus and inspected for compliance. The Covid-19 Risk Screening Tool was completed with the Licensee prior to today's inspection as required by the Fraser Health Authority. Licensing outlined the precautions that would be taken during the inspection

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Observed a electrical cord ( monitor ) extended in the nap area accessible to children.
Corrective Action(s): please ensure children do not have access to cords due to risk of potential injury.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: A crib mattress is observed to have torn vinyl material and repaired with tape.
Corrective Action(s): please ensure equipment is in good repair in order to promote a healthy environment.

Comments

During the inspection the facility manager provided details on the steps taken to increase monitoring of added health and hygiene measures. Covid Resources were posted it was discussed to additionally post the Covid Safety Plan.
Reviewed the importance of maintaining supervsion to children at all times with highlighted focus on times in which children are eating.
Discussed continued practice of documenting minor incidents , unexpected events and illnesses, several entries noted for the month of Feb capture a good level of detail.
In practicing Covid-19 precautions the inspection report was completed off site with arrangements made for delivery, therefore unsigned.
At the inspection dated June 29, 2020 there were 3 children in care of the facility manager. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
