Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
LICENSING: 10050 - CCLR s.11(1) - A licensee must display in a prominent place in the community care facility both the licence, including any terms or conditions of the licence, and the name of the manager.
Observation: Upon inspection, Licensing found that the original Licence was not displayed at the facility in a prominent place.
Corrective Action(s): The Manager explained that the original Licence in stored in her office.

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: Upon inspection of the outdoor play area, Licensing found the fence in disrepair and broken near the bottom, exposing sharp objects.
Corrective Action(s): The Manager explained that she is aware of this and will fix it during the weekend.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19220 - CCLR s.58(1)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child requiring extra support, a current care plan showing the following information: (b) the courses of action recommended by health care professionals to address the needs of the child requiring extra support.
Observation: Upon inspection, Licensing found that all children with indicated allergies on their registration forms did not have a care plan including the course of action recommended by health care professionals.
Corrective Action(s): The Manager explained that she will create a care plan for each child with a noted allergy.

Comments

At the inspection dated April 15, 2024 there were 5 children and 2 staff present. The Manager came on site during the inspection. At this inspection the above contraventions were identified. Licensee/Manager to provide Licensing with a written response with actions taken to bring facility into compliance. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool will be completed and a copy will be provided.
