Comments

The children were seen to play outside, eat a healthy snack, have free play including coloring and gluing and story time. Staff were observed to use positive language with the children, "let's color on the paper", sing while diaper changing and talk with the children "OK, we're going this way - follow me". The are a wide variety of materials available in both programs that meet a Regio Emilia approach to early learning programming. Natural materials are used, child led curriculum, documenting "wonderings & happenings". Dramatic play, art materials, water blocks, puzzles, black board, play dough and self help tools (brooms) were some of the materials seen. There are many displays of children's creativity and exploration (construction and corn). Children are guided in health and hygiene - for example through healthy food choices, hand washing (including infants).

Discussions were had with staff and the manager - emergency planning, medication/care plan/allergy processes, sanitation, record keeping, child to staff ratio and parent communication are all in place.

5210 was discussed - poster was left. A resource package will be forwarded to this facility.

This report was reviewed and discussed with the manager. Licensing contact information was left.
