Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act(CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations(CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of practice (DoLSoP).

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13060 - CCLR s.56(1)(d) - A licensee must keep current records of each of the following: (d) written policies and procedures that are intended to guide employees in the care and supervision of children.
Observation: Licensing reviewed the play away space policies and found that they were insufficient for the play away space in use for the outdoor class program. The manager will provide more details for the play away space plan, and Licensing will return to review the space, and the transportation plan.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to keep current records of written policies and procedures that are intended to guide the employees in the care and supervision of the children.

Summary of Inspection:
During today’s inspection, there were 19 children, the manager, and 1 staff present.
One contraventions was identified at the time of inspection. Once the manager provides written response, Licensing will return for a follow up inspection.
The following was discussed
Discussed the use play away plan for the outdoor class, and its practice. Licensing has provided the manager with education, and will return for a follow up inspection to review the play away area in use at this time. Items to include in the play away space policies. Manager will provide licensing with more detailed policies for the outdoor preschool class.
Reviewed the new renovation plans for the facility. Licensing provided floor and site plan for the new facility.
