Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
CARE AND/OR SUPERVISION: 14020 - CCLR s.34(2)(a) - Without limiting subsection (1), a licensee must ensure that (a) children attending a community care facility are divided into groups, with each group having no more children than that permitted in Schedule E.
Observation: At the time of the inspection, there were 5 children under the age of 4 years old. For a Family Child Care service type, there can be no more than 4 children under the age of 4 years old when there are no children under 12 months present. Facility will be in compliance Thur/Fri. Licensing discussed compliance options for next week.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure compliance with age requirements as per Schedule E of the CCLR.

HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE: 15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): At the time of the inspection, Licensing observed that the children's bedding were stored together. Spreading of germs is the concern. The licensee separated the bedding at the time of the inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure health and hygiene practices are maintained at all times.

Summary of Inspection

At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensing provided dates for correction and is requesting a written response by March 6th advising on compliance with coded item number 14020.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
