Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted today to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act, Child Care Licensing Regulationand the applicable Director of Licensing Standards of Practice. All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance except for the facility's policies and procedures as there have not been any changes since the previous routine inspection.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12040 - CCLR s.19(1)(a) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (a) a criminal record check for the person.
Observation: Noted on the previous routine inspection report was to have valid criminal record clearance letters for all individuals regularly on site over the age of 12 years. During today's inspection one criminal record clearance letter remained outstanding.

Corrective Action(s): Licensing discussed with the Licensee how to apply for the criminal record clearance for this individual. The Licensee said she thought it was processed and would look into the matter. If the clearance letter is unavailable the Licensee will need to apply for a clearance letter for this individual by March 11, 2020.

STAFFING: 12190 - CCLR s.22(2)(b) - A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.
Observation: In discussion with the Licensee the monthly fire drills have not been conducted since January 2020.

Corrective Action(s): Ensure monthly fire drills are conducted as well as recorded.

Comments

At the inspection dated March 9, 2020, there were 6 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified and any action required by the Licensee is included.
