306 - Food premises not maintained in a sanitary condition [s. 17(1)]
Observation: 1. Black buildup noted on the head of the dish sink sprayer in the produce area.
2. Dust/ buildup noted on the ceiling and by one of the fan units in the produce walk-in cooler.
3. Ice scoop stored in an unsanitary manner on top of a bag containing manuals on top of the ice machine - note: Ice is not for public consumption; Only used on the exterior of packages to keep products cool.
Corrective Action(s): 1 and 2. Clean the aforementioned areas and maintain in a sanitary condition.
3. Store the ice scoop in a sanitary manner - either hung on the side of the ice machine or store in a sanitary container in between use.

Observation: Peeling/ chipped paint noted in the interior of the reach-in display freezer (aisle 16) - noted in 3 holding units - holding Beyond Meat products, whole frozen turkey and PC brand burger patties.
Corrective Action(s): Repair the 3 freezer holding units so they no longer have peeling/ chipped paint. All surfaces in a food premises must be smooth, imprevious to moisture and in a condition that will allow for effective cleaning and sanitizing.

Comments

Routine inspection conducted today - inspected produce, dairy, bakery, baby food product aisle, storage/ receiving area, online grocery and general store area.
All hand washing stations, including the washrooms, were accessible, equipped with hot and cold running water, liquid soap and paper towels.
All refrigeration units were at ≤ 4C.
All freezer units were at ≤ -18C.
All food products were stored at least 6 inches off the floor.
Random check completed on the expiry date of some baby food products and formulas - all within the expiry date as noted on the package.
QUAT sanitizer spray bottles were available in the back of house in all the different departments. 200 ppm QUAT detected.
400 ppm QUAT detected in the back of house on the wall mounted QUAT sanitizer dispenser.
QUAT test strips available.
All chemicals were properly name labeled and stored away from food products.
General organization and sanitation satisfactory.
Interior of the ice machine noted in a sanitary condition.
No signs of pest activities noted during the inspection.
