Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: A wood pallet with nails sticking out underneath the outdoor stairs leading to the deck.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that a safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19330 - CCLR s.59(b) - In respect of a record referred to in this Division, a licensee must (b) keep a record other than one referred to in paragraph (a) in a place from which it can be retrieved within a reasonable time, on request.
Observation: Support worker file was not on site or could be retrieved upon request.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure that all the records are up to date and available.

Comments

During today’s inspection, there were 7 children, and the facility manger/licensee present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to submit a written corrective action plan to address the contraventions.
The contents of this inspection report was reviewed with the manager prior to the inspection report being written off-site, therefore no signature attached.
A copy of the report was provided to the facility by email to the address given today.
