Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSOP). All eight care categories were assessed for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12050 - CCLR s.19(1)(b) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation: Upon inspection of 2 staff members' records, it was noted that both sets of records did not contain character references.
Corrective Action(s): Ensure staff files are complete.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
At the inspection dated May 24, 2022 there were 8 children in care with 2 staff members including the Manager. .
At the inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified.
Please provide Licensing with a written response, by the date noted below, stating how the identified contraventions will be addressed in order to ensure year round compliance.
As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed. A copy of the report and the corresponding Risk Assessment was emailed to the Manager.
This report was written off site and is therefore, unsigned. The contravention and summary items identified in the report were reviewed with the Manager before Licensing's departure.
The following items were discussed:
- The facility's fence can shed splinters. The facility has systems in place to asses the fence regularly in order to mitigate risk of injury.
-Ensuring facility records are archived as per legislative requirements.
