Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11020 - CCLR s.13(2) - A licensee must ensure that the community care facility and the furniture, equipment and fixtures within it are clean and in good repair while children are in attendance.
Observation: An area of wallpaper at child height is missing in the nap room exposing the wall.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure children do not have access to the bare wall.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19100 - CCLR s.57(2)(d) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (d) name and telephone number of a parent, medical practitioner and emergency contact.
Observation: The name and contact information for a doctor/medical clinic is not available for one child. Staff stated they have asked for this but it has not been provided.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure contact information for a doctor/medical clinic is available for all children.

Comments

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated February 2, 2022 there were eight children and four staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this routine inspection, a facility risk assessment tool is completed and a copy is provided. This report was reviewed with the senior educator and written off site. A copy of this report will be emailed to the facility. Total time includes office time.
The following were discussed with the senior educator.
-Loose boards on the upper deck in the yard have been reported to the maintenance department and will be repaired soon.
