Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act(CCALA) and the Child Care Licensing Regulations(CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of practice (DOLSOP).

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Licensing observed:
-Some drywall was chipped exposing the metal corners of the wall. Corrected during the inspection.
-Standing water was observed in a bin near where children were napping. This was corrected during the inspection.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

Comments

Summary of Inspection:
During today’s inspection, there were 6 children, 2 staff, and manager present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified and was addressed, therefore no further action is required.
As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy was provided to the facility along with this report.
The Risk Assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation and is used to determine inspection frequency.

The following education/recommendations were provided:
· Napping supervision plan was reviewed.
· Keeping record that they have checked the references.
· Eating supervision plans reviewed and discussed.
