Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), and the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR), and the Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Observed during inspection:
-Outdoor space contained storage of the pressure washer
-The bricks near the edge of the grass had spaces providing a tripping hazard
-Animal feces in two areas
-Wood blocks with long screws stored on the ground.
-One cabinet in the living room gave access to a cable and an exposed electrical plug
-One drawer in the bathroom had a disengaged latch which gave access to personal hygiene items such as a razor.
-Nap room for children under 36 months was being used for storage of items.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19080 - CCLR s.57(2)(b) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (b) date of enrolment in the community care facility.
Observation: Five children's records were reviewed during inspection. One file did not contain the start date.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to keep for each child a record showing the date of enrolment.

Summary of Inspection:
During today’s inspection, there were 3 children, and the facility manger/licensee present.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. Licensee is required to submit a written corrective action plan to address the contraventions.

The following was discussed:
Discussed the requirement for documentation
Licensing reviewed outdoor log book
Discussed reporting to licensing regarding structural changes to the physical facility.
