Critical Hazards: Total Number: 1
301 - Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces not maintained in sanitary condition [s. 17(1)]
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): In-use utensils (stir sticks) observed stored in room temperature water. Staff stated that utensils are rinsed off every few hours. Staff placed all utensils in an ice-bath during time of inspection.
Corrective Action(s): In-use utensils must be placed in an ice bath at all times or cleaned and sanitized every 2 hours (or as per approved food safety plan) to prevent bacteria growth and/or toxin production.
Violation Score: 5

Non-Critical Hazards: Total Number: 1
209 - Food not protected from contamination [s. 12(a)]
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Ice scoop (and handle) observed placed directly on top of ice in the ice machine. Staff removed the scoop and placed it in the 3-compartment sink to be cleaned and sanitized.
Corrective Action(s): Ice scoops must be placed in a designated area protected from contamination outside the ice machine to prevent ice from potential contamination. Storing ice scoops inside the ice can lead to potential contamination from the food handler.
