Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). There were 4 children and 1 staff at the facility during the inspection. All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance, except for the outdoor play space. This play space is not currently being used by the facility due to renovations being required to be in compliance, and have been continuing with the play space away plan.

Observed Violations

PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11140 - CCLR s.16(1) - A licensee must have at least 6m² of outdoor play area for each child. Observation: There is no actively used outdoor play space at this facility, as per manager. On October 22, 2021 a plan had been agreed upon with Licensing to have the outdoor play space to be renovated no later than March 2022, and the facility has not yet met this timeline, as renovations have not been completed. Corrective Action(s): Please review your previous outdoor play space renovation plan and send an updated copy with timelines to your LO. Please also review your current play spaces away plan, and resubmit, including considerations to the new development growth and how the children will be kept safe with increased traffic/persons in the area. Date to be Corrected: June 24, 2022
