Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12050 - CCLR s.19(1)(b) - A licensee must not employ a person in a community care facility unless the licensee or, in the case of a person who is not the manager, the manager has first met with the person and obtained all of the following: (b) character references in respect of the person.
Observation: The manager could not produce a copies of their character references for their files.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure a record of the peron's character references are available.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: Manager stated that the facility has not practiced their yearly emergency drill of 2022.
Corrective Action(s): A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.

NUTRITION AND FOOD SERVICES: 17120 - CCLR s.48(6) - A licensee must make available to parents information on the food and drink given to children.
Observation: Licensing observed that there is no information for parents of what food are provided to children.

Comments

At today’s inspection there were 0 children and the manager present.
At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to Licensing by Jan 19, 2023 Licensing will review the response.

As part of this routine inspection, a facility risk assessment tool is completed. The risk assessment includes any non-compliance identified during the routine inspection, a 3 year ‘historical’ review of the facility’s compliance and operation. This is used to determine inspection frequency.
The contents of the inspection report were reviewed with the manager and written on-site. A copy of this report will be emailed to the manager and a paper copy will be mailed to the facility.
The following was discussed with the manager;
- Emergency supplies in an accessible area
- Reminder about criminal record check (CRC) renewal
