Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: Licensing observed water was missing from the emergency supplies
Corrective Action(s): The Manager said she will provide a response to licensing to ensure water has been added to the emergency supplies.

Comments

At this inspection, there were 6 children and the Manager present. At this inspection, the above contravention was identified. Licensing provided a date for addressing the contraventions and is requesting a written response by May 3rd, 2024 advising on compliance.

As part of this Routine Inspection, a Facility Risk Assessment Tool was completed.

The following was discussed:

- Staff Files
- First Aid and Criminal Record Check Renewal
- Hiring an Assistant

The information contained in the report was discussed with the Manager and the report and risk assessment were written on-site. Licensing advised that copies of the report and risk assessment would be emailed to the facility.
