Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Not Applicable
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12180 - CCLR s.22(2)(a) - A licensee must ensure that each employee (a) is trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and emergency plan described in subsection (1), including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan.
Observation: Upon speaking with one staff member, that individual did not know where the fire extinguisher was located.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all staff are trained in the implementation of the fire drill system and emergency plan including the use of any equipment noted in the fire drill system and emergency plan.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must have all of the following: (b) an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: Upon inspection of the emergency supplies, the food and water had expired in 2018.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the emergency plan sets out procedures and corresponding items to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency

RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19090 - CCLR s.57(2)(c) - A licensee must keep, for each child, a record showing the following information: (c) daily attendance record, indicating for each day whether the child is absent or, if the child is present, the time of arrival and departure.
Observation: Upon inspection of one months records, there was one day where 2 children were not signed out and the other day where all 17 children had not been signed in.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure arrival and departure times are recorded each day

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated February 15there were 11 children and 4 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified.Licensee will provide Licensing with a written response as to the corrective measurestaken to address contraventions. Licensing will review the response.As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.
