Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). Evidence for this report was based on the Licensing Officer’s observations, review of the facility records and information provided by the facility staff at the time of inspection.
The following areas were reviewed:

As part of the routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #SCLY-AN4VUS have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
ADDITIONAL CCALA SECTIONS: 50050 - CCALA s.7(1)(b)(i) - A licensee must do all of the following: (b) operate the community care facility in a manner that will promote (i) the health, safety and dignity of persons in care.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): Upon Licensing arrival 9 children were in care on premise including the Licensee's own children under the age of 12 years who was being cared for by their other parent in the upper part of the home. The Licensee stated that two of the children were in attendance as gradual entry and that the parent was supposed to pick them up prior to another child arriving but that the parent was late to pick up.
Corrective Action(s): The Licensee contacted the parent of the two gradual entry children and they were picked up during the time of inspection. Please ensure the number of children on premise, including your own child under the age of 12 years, does not exceed 7 at any one time.
