A summary of the violations found during the inspection are listed below.

505   Food premises maintained in a sanitary condition (Sec 17(1))
Observation: 1) This premise is due for a renovation. Visible age and wear is showing on floors, walls, doors, shelving, countertops, storage areas, waterproof backsplashes, baseboards, grouting, etc. 2) Some build-up of dirt/grease/grime is visible in all areas of premise, especially under and behind equipment and in hard-to-reach corners and storage areas.
Corrective Action: 1) A plan for future upgrades and renovation to all areas of this premise, is required. Operator to submit an estimated time-line, outlining plans for upgrades or repairs to areas noted. 2) A regular a through cleaning schedule is to be maintained for all areas of premises.
507   Equipment, utensils and food surfaces are washed and sanitized (Sec 17(2))
Observation: No detectable sanitizer in dishwasher sanitizing rinse cycle.
Corrective Action: Ensure dishwasher provides 100ppm chlorine in sanitizing rinse. Monitor sanitizer concentration daily with test strips. (Sanitizing cycle on dishwasher was primed during inspection, which resulted in sanitizer now providing 100ppm chlorine in rinse cycle - possible air bubble in sanitizing solution line). Operator called Ecolab repairperson during inspection.
604   Adequate handwashing stations at convenient locations are available for employees (Sec 21 (4))
Observation: There was no handsoap or paper towels within easy access at handwash sink in staff bathroom.
Corrective Action: Provide liquid handsoap and paper towels in staff bathroom. Post handwash signs at all handwash sinks.
805   Chemicals, cleansers, & similar agents are stored in a room/cabinet
Observation: Several containers of cleaning products/chemicals were observed stored in food storage areas.
Corrective Action: Ensure all chemicals and cleaning products are stored in a room or cabinet, separate from food storage areas.

Comments:

The following items noted (in compliance with Regulations):
- liquid handsoap and paper towels provided at handwash sink in front service area.
- dishwasher provides 100ppm chlorine sanitizing rinse cycle (after priming)
- Bleach sanitizer used for sanitizing food contact surfaces.
- Refrigerated units maintaining food temperatures at 4C, or colder.
- Freezer temperatures recorded -17C, or colder.
- Cooked foods hot-holding above 60C
- Foodsafe certified staff on-site

This food premises is currently in the process of being sold to new owners.
Please note: Health Operating Permit are not transferable between owners. New owners must apply to local health Authority for new Operating Permit.
