Observation: Washrooms for staff and dining patrons were available for use in Hotel lobby, according to original plan approval. Washrooms for staff and dining patrons in Hotel lobby, are no longer available. As per the BC Food Premises Regulations Part 2 (5) "If food premises provide seating for dining purposes, the operator must ensure that washroom facilities are provided for the use of the dining patrons".
Corrective Action: Washrooms must be provided for restaurant staff and dining patrons, in accordance with the BC Food Premises Regulation and the BC Building Code Regulation. Restaurant is to remain closed until washrooms have been provided.
504  Critical Equipment/utensils/food contact surfaces are operated in a safe/sanitary manner (Sec 16(c))
Observation: Leak in Hotel roof is creating water leaks in kitchen ceiling. Water from kitchen ceiling was observed dripping onto cooking equipment. This violation has been noted on previous inspections dated December 29, 2008 and November 16, 2009.
Corrective Action: Hotel roof requires permanent repair, to prevent water leaks in kitchen ceiling. Cooking equipment cannot be used, until leaks in ceiling have been repaired.

Comments:

Other items noted at time of inspection (in compliance with Regulations):
- Fridge temperatures recorded 4C, or colder.
- Freezer temperatures recorded -22C
- Dishwasher provides 100ppm chlorine (new dishwasher installed)
- liquid handsoap and paper towels providde at handwash sink
- Hot and cold water available at all sinks
- Sinks draining adequately.

A Closure Order was issued to restaurant, effective July 29, 2012, due to violations noted above. Restaurant cannot re-open until written approval from EHO has been given. Any construction/renovations to premises requires prior plan approval from health dept.
