Cameron Lake Outdoor Rec. Facility

Facility Location:
204 Highway 29
Hudson's Hope, V0C 1V0

Facility Information:
Facility Type:  1 Public Connection
Current Hazard Rating:   Low

This facility is currently under a Boil Water Notice

Underlying Problems: Dug well not properly constructed and is at risk of contamination. Efficacy of treatment is unknown, not approved to meet NH treatment objectives for groundwater at risk of containing pathogens. In addition, the operator has not submitted a bacteriological sample, or has not provided the Health Authority records of sample results since 2013.
Steps Taken to Remedy: Users of the facility are required to supply their own drinking water, which is stated on facility website. There are also BWN signs posted at the facility.
Corrective Actions Remaining: IF – water system is to be repaired or re-built, submit an Application for Waterworks Construction Permit including all supporting documentation for proposed new system. It is strongly recommended that this is prepared by a professional engineer with experience in waterworks design and registered to practice in BC. IF – the water system will not be repaired or re-built, it must be taken out of service and decommissioned as it is not suitable for use as a potable water system. It may be possible to continue using the water, untreated, for non-domestic purposes (i.e. washroom sinks, toilets), but all connections to other taps and fixtures must be permanently severed or have backflow prevention devices in place. This must be approved by an EHO.
