Facility Information:

Current Hazard Rating: | Unknown |
This facility is currently under a Boil Water Notice
Underlying Problems: - Operator could not determine the cause of the water contamination and the adverse sample results. - Source is a surface water source from a nearby creek and there is filtration, UV disinfection and chlorination for the treatment. - Water from the kitchen tap is used for washing dishes, handwashing, laundry and shower and use hauled water for consumption.
Steps Taken to Remedy: - Environmental Health Officer (EHO) spoke with operator and discussed results and remediation steps. - Operator advised to look for any possible cross-connections in the water system that could have potential for cross-contamination. - EHO advised the operator to monitor for any valves that could have been accidentally turned on leading to water bypassing the treatment.
Corrective Actions Remaining: - Operator to notify all water users to boil water before drinking and to post signage at each tap to alert users of the boil water notice. - Reservoir disinfection and flushing of water lines to be scheduled, and a copy of chlorine residual records to be provided to the EHO. - Upon completion of the corrective actions, two bacteriological samples to be taken 24 hours apart, processed by an accredited lab and reported for absence of E. coli and total coliforms, for the Boil water Notice to be rescinded. |
