Violations:
A summary of the violations found during the inspection are listed below.
Code | Description / Observation / Corrective Action |
317 | Inadequate or improper construction of water works Observation: There appears to be a direct opening into the existing reservoir via an open conduit in the floor. Corrective Action: Seal access points that may allow for pest or physical/chemical contaminants to make it into the storage supplies. |
319 | Inadequate Chemical Analysis Data Observation: Chemical sampling data is not up to date and system is out of compliance with conditions of operation. The last post treatment sample was provided in 2019 and is required annually. Corrective Action: A sample is to be completed for Manganese immediately and results reported. A full chemical/physical test is required every 5 years, last completed in 2019, but should be conducted now to get a full understanding of the current condition of the well. |
320 | Other (specify below) Observation: Emergency Response and Contingency Plan (ERCP) is out of date and not usable in the event of an emergency. Corrective Action: An up to date plan is required as a condition of operation. The ERCP is to be updated with a focus on ensuring all current contact information is updated first. There may be a need/want to consolidate the existing ERCP for the Town of Smithers to include the Smithers Regional Airport. |
