Fraser Health Authority

Health Protection

Welcome to the Fraser Health’s Health Protection web site.

Fraser Health is one of six health authorities established by the government of British Columbia in December 2001. We serve more than 1.5 million people (one-third of the BC population), living in 20 municipalities from Burnaby to White Rock to Hope plus two electoral areas in the Fraser Valley Regional District.

The department of Health Protection in Fraser Health is responsible for regulating and monitoring many public facilities and those aspects of the environment that have a direct impact on public health. Our major areas of responsibilities include:

Environmental Health Services which ensure that the Public Health Act, Drinking Water Protection Act, Tobacco Sales Act, Food Safety Act and associated regulations are met to protect the health and safety of the public.

Community Care Facilities Licensing which is a program that ensures the Community Care and Assisted Living Act and associated regulations are met in licensed child daycare programs and residential care facilities to protect the health and safety of persons in care.

Click on the links in the left column to learn more about these programs, find public information and locate resources for operators.
