Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DoLSoP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation (CORRECTED DURING INSPECTION): corner area of the yard contained the following identified hazards: 2 stacked landscaping boards, a bucket of cement rocks leaning over, and a planter stacked on top of another planter. These items appeared unstable and may result in injury if accessed by children. It is noted that supervision was maintained throughout the inspection, children were redirected away from this area, and the items were addressed during the inspection.
Corrective Action(s): please ensure while children do not have access to areas which may present a safety risk.

Comments

At the inspection dated June 22,2021 there were 5 children in the care of the Licensee. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. Licensee to provide a written response within the applied time frame, Licensing to acknowledge receipt and follow up with any additional questions if required. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. Inspection report was completed off site and provided by email therefore no signature is obtained.
