Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency. Observation: The fire extinguishers were not serviced. Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that fire extinguishers are serviced annually. Date to be Corrected: July 20, 2023

Comments

At the inspection dated July 13, 2023 there were 4 children and 1 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed. This inspection and the risk assessment were written on site and reviewed with the Manager, a copy was provided. The following education/recommendations were provided: - Medication storage. - Checking emergency food supplies. - Ensure tables and food surfaces are washed with soap and water followed by a bleach solution. The following resources were provided: - Reportable Incident Forms Visit the CCFL website at www.fraserhealth.ca/childcare for additional resources, and links to the Legislation (CCALA and CCLR).
