Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care & Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: The fire extinguisher has not been serviced is the past 12 months.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the fire extinguisher is serviced a minimum of once every 12 months and that an inspection decal is available.

Comments

Summary of Inspection
At the inspection dated May 3, 2023 there were seven children and one staff present. At this inspection the above noted contravention was identified. The Licensee will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this routine inspection, a facility risk assessment tool is completed and a copy is provided.
The following were discussed:
Ensuring sunscreen has a valid expiry date.
Valid Criminal Record Checks are available, reviewed expiry dates.
