Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Sand/pea gravel area does not have a cover when not in use
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure the area is covered in order to prevent animals having access when not in use

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: 3 fire extinguishers have not bee serviced since September 2021
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure extinguishers are serviced annually

HYGIENE AND COMMUNICABLE DISEASE: 15030 - CCLR s.46(1) - A licensee must establish a program to instruct children in, and to practise the rules of, health and hygiene.
Observation: After diaper changing in Infant room, hand washing does not take place
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure all children wash hands after diaper changing, to promote healthy hygiene practises

Comments

At the inspection dated May 2, 2023 there were 40 children and 11 staff present.
At this inspection the above noted contravention were identified. The Licensee/Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response.

As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed. For this inspection the contents of the Facility Inspection Report and Risk Assessment were discussed and provided to the Licensee and/or Manager while on site.
