Introduction

An unscheduled inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulation (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DOLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance

Contraventions
Previous Inspection - Contraventions observed on FIR #DCAR-B4TR2U have been corrected.
Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
STAFFING: 12190 - CCLR s.22(2)(b) - A licensee must ensure that each employee (b) practices implementing the fire drill system at least once each month.
Observation: Licensing reviewed recorded fire drills from 2019 and noted that drills for April, June and July were missing. Assistant manager educated that the fire drills were not completed, however there is currently a system being implemented to ensure fire drills are now done monthly.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure fire drills are practiced once each month.

Comments

At this inspection dated December 18, 2019 there were 18 children and 4 staff present. At this inspection, the above noted contravention was identified.
Licensing and assistant manager discussed:
- Daily schedule and program of activities
- Communication with children's families
- Implemented staff files check list
- Snack and meal times/daily menu
- Systems in place to ensure information is updated regularly
As part of the routine inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided. The Risk Assessment includes non-compliance identified during the routine inspection and a 3 year “historical” review of the facility’s compliance and operation.
