Introduction

An unscheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All care categories were inspected for compliance.

Current Inspection - Items reviewed comply with the Act, regulations & standards of practice except for those noted on supplementary pages.

Observed Violations
PHYSICAL FACILITY, EQUIPMENT AND FURNISHINGS: 11010 - CCLR s.13(1) - A licensee must ensure that a healthy and safe environment is provided at all times while children are under the supervision of employees.
Observation: Licensing observed beddings were touching in the storage closet.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure that beddings are removed and stored separately and mats sanitized prior to storing.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES: 13020 - CCLR s.22(1)(b) - A licensee must: (b) have an emergency plan that sets out procedures to prepare for, mitigate, respond to and recover from any emergency.
Observation: There was no emergency food or water packed and ready to go in case of an emergency. However Licensee had emergency food and water in the kitchen on site.
Corrective Action(s): Please ensure to have emergency food and water for each person for 72 hours ready to go in case of an emergency.

Comments

At the inspection dated December 14, 2022 there were 3 children and 2 staff present. At this inspection the above noted contraventions were identified. The Manager will take action to bring the facility into compliance and provide a written response to the Licensing Officer. The Licensing Officer will review the response. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed and a copy is provided.

The following education/recommendations were provided:

- Medication storage.
- Implementing and documenting earthquake drill.
- Diaper change mat.
- Storage.
- Parents may list a walk in clinic if a family doctor is not available.
- Reporting and documenting reportable incidents.
- Lead in the water.
