Introduction

A scheduled routine inspection was conducted to assess compliance with the Community Care and Assisted Living Act (CCALA), the Child Care Licensing Regulations (CCLR) and the relevant Director of Licensing Standards of Practice (DLSP). All areas of the facility were inspected for compliance.

Observed Violations
RECORDS AND REPORTING: 19030 - CCLR s.55(2)(a) - A licensee must notify the medical health officer within 24 hours after (a) a child is involved in, or may have been involved in, a reportable incident described in Schedule H while under the care or supervision of the licensee.
Observation: Licensee described an incident of fall that occurred about 2 months ago. A child was taken to the hospital for medical attention. Licensee has the documentation of this incident. The incident meets the definition of Reportable incident, however, it was not reported to Licensing.
Corrective Action(s): Please enure to notify Licensing within 24 hours after a child is involved in a reportable incident while under the care of the licensee.

Comments

At the inspection dated March 5, 2021, there were 7 children in attendance with the staff. At this inspection, the above noted contraventions were identified. As part of this Routine Inspection a Facility Risk Assessment Tool is completed. A response in writing is required to be submitted to Licensing by March 10, 2021, outlining how the contravention(s) have been addressed.
The following were discussed today;
· Requirement of Care Plan when a child needs extra support regarding his/her medical condition, allergies or behavioral concerns.
· Definition and list of Reportable Incident. Please review copy of the Child Care Licensing Regulation Schedule H for details.
· Reminder to renew first aid certificate before May 2021.

Licensing staff briefly reviewed Covid-19 infection control strategies and protocol.
Licensing staff completed Risk Screening –Covid -19 prior to inspection. This inspection report was written off site. A copy of inspection report and the risk assessment will be mailed to the facility.
